
Mary Ann Jezewski, PhD, RN

Director of the Center for Nursing Research
Dr. Jezewski is a nurse anthropologist whose research focuses on the development and dissemination of a middle range theory of culture brokering. Her studies focus on patient/provider interaction, emphasizing clients' access and use of healthcare services and nurses' facilitation of client health care. Most recently her research has focused on end-of-life decision-making and Advance Directives within an advocacy/brokering framework. Settings for her research have included migrant farm worker clinics, homeless primary care clinics, oncology and critical care units

Yow-Wu Bill Wu, PhD
Associate Professor
Dr. Wu provides the Center's clients with research and statistical consultation. His research program has focused on applications of quantitative research methodology and data-based studies. Specific interest areas include multi-level data analysis, hierarchical linear models, longitudinal data analysis, and AIDS related research. He teaches research methods and multivariate analysis courses at the graduate level.

Carol Kozlowski
Assistant to the Director, CNR
Carol’s responsibilities in the CNR include assisting in the preparation of grant proposals, articles, and reports; data entry; coordination of the CNR appointments and business matters; maintaining research resources; and direct assistance to the Director of the CNR.

Lisa Ball
Doctoral Student
Lisa graduated from the UB Family Nurse Practitioner program in Spring 2004 and returned to study in the PhD program in nursing. Her research interest is emotional intelligence in health care providers. She is also eager to assist UB’s nurse academicians in their various research endeavors, so please feel free to stop by and visit her in the CNR anytime!
