Freshman Admission

Acceptance & Retention Criteria

Applicants to UB selecting nursing as their choice of major will be reviewed for admission and, if qualified, will be admitted both to the University and the School of Nursing. Admission is on a space available basis.

By the sophomore year, students must have earned a minimum GPA of 2.7 overall and completed at least five of the prerequisite nursing courses, including anatomy and physiology. A minimum grade of C is required in all prerequisites.

To remain in the major, students must maintain a 2.7 overall by the start of the junior year, complete all 13 prerequisites in four semesters, and maintain good academic standing in the School of Nursing and the University. Good academic standing is required to remain in the upper division of the program.
