Nursing is one of the most rapidly expanding career areas in today's economy, and there has never been a better time to begin your career in this uniquely challenging and rewarding field. Consequently, the UB School of Nursing has developed an accelerated second-degree option for a Bachelor of Science in nursing. This option delivers the undergraduate nursing curriculum in an intensive, full-time, 12-month program designed for the mature, highly motivated, career-minded student who has already completed an undergraduate and/or graduate degree in a field outside of nursing.
Students selecting this option will complete all required courses in the nursing major in a sequence that provides accelerated progression, and upon completion, are prepared to take the NCLEX RN exam to become a registered nurse. During their study, Accelerated BS students will also be given the opportunity to accrue up to 7 graduate credit hours, which may later be applied to a graduate program in a nursing specialty area of interest, giving students a head start toward a graduate degree.
