The purpose of the practice focused doctorate degree at UB is to prepare advanced practice nurses in specialized clinical roles (NP, CRNA, CNS) to provide innovative, evidence-based clinical practice, and scholarship that reflects quality improvements in clinical systems and settings.

The Capstone Project represents the culmination of the students’ accomplishment of the eight DNP essentials as described by the American Association of Collegiate Nursing (AACN).  These essentials include knowledge and skills related to clinical prevention and population health, organizational  leadership, program evaluation, health care policy and advocacy, use of analytical methods and information systems for evidence-based practice,  inter-professional collaboration,  and attainment of advanced nursing practice in specialized roles. For more information on Capstone Projects please contact either the Program Coordinators or the Director of the MS/DNP Program.
